As a maternity photographer, I’m always looking for ordinary moments that can be extraordinary when captured in a photograph. This outdoor session was full of those moments. This mom to be expressed at the start that she preferred more candid and less posed photos as those best represented them as a couple.

I love when people share the types of photos they’re seeking. Some people want to be directed and told how to stand, when to smile, etc. and others want to do their own thing and that’s ok too! I love a good posed photo but sometimes the quiet moments, the photos where I’m just “testing the light”, end up being the most perfect captures.

And there’s a reason this photo made the front page of my website even though you can’t see mom’s face! In all honestly, I was actually adjusting my settings, trying to figure out if we could catch a silhouette photo as the sun went down but I snapped this image with that golden sunlight and knew it was magic!
