KALISPELL FAMILY PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY

Have you been thinking about family photos but think you missed your chance now that winter has arrived in Kalispell? Think again! Winter family and maternity photography sessions are some of my absolute favorite! Yes, there are a few more logistics to work out in the event it’s heavily snowing (or sometimes raining!) but those are small details compared to the gorgeous scenery you can capture in Flathead Valley Montana in the winter time.

We actually snuck this family’s session in just before the snow and in between all the rainy days. Our original plan was to shoot at Lake McDonald in Glacier National Park but due to heavy cloud coverage, we made a last minute change and headed to my favorite spot on the Flathead River. Like I said, you have to be willing to be a little more flexible on location, time, day, etc. but the end result is totally worth it. The snow capped mountains are my absolute favorite!

This family was a blast to photograph between four year old twins (fellow twin mom so I was unphased!) and a recently turned one year old (do you recognize him from this milestone birthday post?). With kids this young, you just have to go with the flow. We took several family photos but also just let the kids run, skip rocks, climb, and play. If you’ve been following along, then you probably already know that candids are my favorite photos and what I deliver most so I’m all about letting the kids play and just be themselves.
